Sister by Studio Ashby’s foray into the world of textile design was fuelled by the late journalist Jocasta Innes. Up until recently, founder Sophie Ashby and her family rented her former Georgian-era home in Spitalfields, which provided her with ample fuel for her pattern research. This cotton bed cushion features the Patch print, a flat-woven kilim made up of a rich chequerboard. Each energetic detail is woven by hand with the same craft of centuries gone by.

‘Part playground, part shop’ is how Sister by Studio Ashby describes itself, fuelled by sibling love and free-spiritedness. The founder – interior designer Sophie Ashby – draws on her love of antiques, colour, art and photography to inform each collection. We’re proud to stock fabrics with beautiful craft stories; some are inspired by the hardy beauty of the orchids found growing on Table Mountain in South Africa, while others are inspired by her husband’s Ghanaian heritage. To bring her vibrant textiles to life, she calls upon the expertise of Yarn Collective, known for its natural, recycled materials, climate-positive ethos and revered quality. Her pieces are woven by hand using centuries-old techniques and finished with eclectic, rich details.
