Ingot Objects Glasgow Ash-Glazed Ceramic Cups (Set of 4)

$330

Ceramicist Jonathan Wade – founder of Ingot Objects – often works with high-textured clays that lend a beautiful tactility to his stoneware. His only-at-ABASK pieces are wheel-thrown, ash-glazed and intended to celebrate daily rituals. These cups have been dipped in a slip made from clay dug near Wade’s Glasgow home. This iron-rich slip bleeds through the glaze to create a striking mottled surface, and as such, no two are ever the same.

Meet the Maker:

Ingot Objects

On his travels to Minnesota, Jonathan Wade felt connected to the folk art pottery reinterpretations of Japanese Mingei. Wheel-thrown into simple, hand-built forms, his low-impact, utilitarian tableware celebrate the impurities and irregularities of wild clay and wood ash glazes — which the founder personally collects himself. Every unique piece is designed to honour the rituals of cooking and eating.
