High-end marble and the art of simplicity are the founding features of Stoned – the brainchild of Derkan Atakan and John ter Riet. Since 2014, they’ve been interpreting home-design objects through a minimalist lens, cutting and polishing each pared-back piece by hand in their small workshop based in their beloved Amsterdam neighbourhood. For inspiration, they look to the open-minded spirit of their hometown and the natural order of the seasons, opting for organic materials and colour contrasts that draw attention to each creation’s quirks and imperfections.
