From around the mid-17th century, apothecary jars were detailed with inscriptions that would bear Latin abbreviations of their contents. Deciphering them provides an insight into the vast array of ingredients that would have been stored within, such as ‘cardina’ for thistle and ‘s-mel-rosa’ for honey. Each vessel in this set is blown and painted by hand. Due to their age, they are intended for decorative use only. Please note, this item is a truly original vintage piece with slight imperfections and distinctive characteristics that add to its charm and celebrate its unique history.
