To British-Iraqi founder Walid al Damirji, this moment proved that he wasn’t the only one obsessed with forlorn and forgotten fabrics – and so his eponymous collections were born in 2011. Every piece stays true to his zero-waste philosophy via the restoration and remounting of antique textiles, from 19th-century French tapestries to 17th-century Florentine silks.
