Each creation from Bird & Branch is handmade from a single piece of wood by husband and wife team Adam and Mercedes in their London-based workshop. In the case of this tray, the material of choice is patterned beech wood. The pattern has been formed as the logs are broken down by fungus – then, once dried, the process stops and the wood becomes workable. Once ready, it’s hand-shaped and turned to last a lifetime, becoming the perfect server for a host of different foods, such as fruits and vegetables. This size is particularly special, as it’s very rare to find pieces of beech wood of this exact diameter or wider.

Meet the Maker:

Bird & Branch

Each creation from Bird & Branch is handmade from a single piece of wood by husband and wife team Adam and Mercedes in their London-based workshop. Its philosophy is centred around traditional woodturning techniques, modern design language and a slow production process, championing ethics and sustainability along the way. To support this, the maker carefully sources British hardwood from timber suppliers that align with its ideals. Expect an exclusive collection of patterned beech bowls, formed over a three-year period with distinctive veins.
