Kate Owen’s love of traditional crafting was nurtured during her childhood in a quaint Colorado mountain town. Though her family switched the rural life for the bright lights of UK cities – with Kate ultimately landing in Peckham, London, by way of a textile design degree at Central St Martins – a nostalgic spirit of Americana remained. Owen combines the tapestry of her life experiences with a passion for sustainability by exclusively using fabric offcuts to stitch playful patchworks. As a former fabric buyer, she saw material waste up close and strives to give new life to quality textiles, with her cushions combining as many as 80 different hand-cut pieces of cloth.
