Design is my whole life. It used to be fabrics when I was a child, because my parents were in fabric production, and then I met Matteo and it remained my world ever since.
It’s high-low: like a farmhouse meets Versailles. I love the idea that simple and sophisticated things come together.
A little Baroque angel from the Museo del Duomo in Salzburg, which Matteo gave me two years ago at Christmas. It’s childish, and wise, and holy, and gold! And I have a bronze mouse from the artist Francis Upritchard. It’s very small and very special to me.

I have a studio that is full of stuff that helps me think. I also have a little altar beside my bed full of my beloved things.
The first was horrible – an old wooden bench for the entrance. The last were some placemats that I bought in Copenhagen five weeks ago at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. They’re plastic but they look like they’re straw.
The whole home – it’s not one item, it’s the feeling of being together here.
I’m starting to collect contemporary art but very, very small things, like 20 to 30 cm maximum. It’s a big collection of very small items.
I couldn’t say – every year I do a big sale for charity and I sell everything. In general, the things I can’t be without at home are things like perfume and potatoes! The things that make it feel like home.
I love buying special plates that I want to remain here when I pass this home on. The vases that Matteo designed for Tiffany & Co in 1987 are also very precious.
A lip balm! Everyone has dried lips in the mountains (I buy a special one by Laniege). Otherwise, it’s something like a prototype of Matteo’s or lately a copy of my book, In The Summer Of 2009, which features photographs of his work by my dear friend, Walter Pfeiffer.
