“My desk is in our art studio, where I help run all aspects of production, so anything that is not of use or purely decorative would get broken or lost under paperwork! Right now, I have a pocket globe from our newest collection, which is 12cm in diameter with a titanium base, and a copy of our soon-to-be released book, The Globemakers: The Curious Story of an Ancient Craft. Then, mixed in with the usual bills and admin I always have a plethora of design ideas and engineering parts lying around, a silver-bound magnifying glass, and a large paintbrush that currently needs restoration.”

“My desk must-haves are my Barcelona sketching pencil in ebony wood, which I use to sketch some ideas or just random drawings and my Berlin mini ballpoint pen, which is indispensable to make some notes, from to-do lists to ideas and concepts. Then I have two tiny weights in brass that I have had since childhood. I keep them there because I like them. Finally, I keep a couple of old postcards and pictures on my wall, which let me just dream.”

“Essential items for the desk must include a robust pen pot and a smooth desk pad. I am a bit of a fan of vintage fountain pens, one of life’s little luxuries being to take it from the pot and sign or amend papers, with a flourish, on the desk pad. Pen and ink create a wonderful sense of wellbeing in a sometimes chaotic world.”
