Nick Plant’s travel backgammon sets are inspired by sun-soaked beaches and the joy of summertime. As a result, they’re created with a flat, foldable construction – as opposed to the usual rolled – that means they can be played on sand. Each one within the series, such as the Fish design, is hand-dyed, hand-etched and exclusive to ABASK, equipped with vintage dice and colourful checkers that’ll make each move a delight. And if you’re wondering where to store your pieces, simply look underneath the etching inside the flap.

Meet the Maker:

Nick Plant

Nick Plant has explored his love for craft for many years. When he was just 18 years old, he started buying and selling furniture on King’s Road before opening a shop on Westbourne Grove selling bespoke designs. He’s worked with industry names such as William Wallace and George Sherlock, the latter of which he helped to develop the first Howard-inspired chair. Our selection of Nick Plant sees him cast his creative eye to the world of board games. He does everything by hand in the UK – from etching to dying – using specially sourced leather. And as he only creates ten of each design, every piece is a true limited-edition collectible.
