Louise Rath designed the High Seas collection in 2020, just in time for the ‘decade of the ocean’ – as marked by the United Nations. It’s intended to open one’s eyes to the beauty, sensitivity and vastness of our waters, communicated through hand-painted scenes of mysterious mermaids, anchors and sea creatures great and small. Each piece is shaped to Lobmeyr’s signature Alpha silhouette, inspired by a copper beaker from the Middle Ages.

Meet the Maker:

Lobmeyr

This Viennese glassmaker was already 60 years old when it collaborated with Thomas Edison on the first electric chandelier. Today, three cousins, Andreas, Leonid and Johannes Rath run the family business, upholding the cutting and buffing techniques of their ancestors while collaborating with some of Europe's most exciting contemporary designers.
