Lora Avedian’s artistry is on full display with the Mimosa cushion. It’s handcrafted in linen and alludes to the maker’s love of still life photography with a depiction of a mimosa flower, or as some people may know it, the touch-me-not plant – but instead of bringing this to our attention via a snapshot, she does so through traditional embroidery. The end result is an intricate celebration of colour, texture and technique, all coming together to reflect the time she spent studying Mixed Media Textiles at the Royal College of Art.

Meet the Maker:

Lora Avedian

Lora Avedian shares a love for embroidery with her mother, who picked up on her enthusiasm from a young age and taught her the basics. Since, Lora has continued to explore the subject, studying it at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels – graduating from the Royal College of Art in 2017. Today, we see the London-based artist use traditional embroidery and embellishment techniques to make her intricate soft furnishings for the home, taking inspiration from both ethnographic research and nature.
