The baskets that Rachel Bower creates all share a similar story – they’ve been hand-woven from Dicky Meadows willow due to its soft-toned green hue and strong, slender nature. This Asymmetric utensils basket also features sun-dried pink detailing, drawing a wonderful contrast with the willow bark handle. It has stepped sides for easier access and a sloping inward form to protect its contents from falling out. Thanks to its taller size, it’s the perfect storage for wooden spoons, vegetables, or even pegs and children’s toys.

Meet the Maker:

Rachel Bower

Moved by the rhythmic nature of basketry, Rachel Bower applies an experimental approach to her craft, in which colour and lines form the basis of her functional willow basket designs. The award-winning weaver records ideas in sketchbooks and brings each basket to life through small batch production in Angus, North East Scotland, maintaining the unique, one-off nature of each distinctive piece.
