Self-taught Sarah Espeute founded Oeuvres Sensibles with a vision to tell stories through the art of embroidery – stories that are poetic and convivial, centred around the seemingly insignificant moments of daily life. Once she’s dreamed up a design, she passes it on to independent artists in Marseille who then hand-embroider it onto vintage French linen and cotton, hence the unique charm of each piece. The Festive Dinner table runner is perfect for celebrations with loved ones, detailed with candles, gravy boats, red wine glasses and other seasonal motifs in black cotton thread.

Meet the Maker:

Oeuvres Sensibles

From her studio in Marseille, French artist Sarah Espeute – founder of Oeuvres Sensibles – handcrafts embroidered table linen that has a poetic, minimalist slant. She sources her linen and cotton from all over France, hand-selecting fabrics with rich family histories and lifespans of around 50-100 years. Each modest piece, be it a napkin or tablecloth, tells a story of its own, capturing nostalgic moments through humble scenes from daily life. Our curation is exclusively hand-embroidered with designs centred around outdoor gatherings with loved ones, a theme that’s sure to elicit a warm, affectionate response.
