Based between Beirut and Paris, Stephanie Sayar and Charbel Garibeh create experimental designs that blend traditional craft techniques with contemporary innovation and wit. Sayar & Garibeh formed their Beirut studio in 2015 after graduating in Interior Architecture at Lebanese University. Teetering between the functional, decorative and sculptural, their playful works are fabricated in materials like terracotta, marble, resin and foam, and are always rebelling against the expected. The pair find inspiration in Lebanese daily life and culture – its contrasts, diversity and rich culture, resulting in collections of functional objects with an unconventional edge.

Sayar & Garibeh

Stephanie Sayar and Charbel Garibeh produce cutting-edge works in unique mediums. Foam is one of their favourite materials, chosen for its chemical and physical properties that allow it to merge, fill, expand and move. The beauty is that this interactive material cannot be predicted or planned – only gravity and chance can determine how it falls into place.

The Artist Studio is an exclusive curation of collectible artworks from global artists, specially selected by New York-based design gallery R & Company. Come visit us by appointment only at 82 Franklin Street Gallery in New York from October 31-December 21, 2024.
