Based in New York since 1989, architect Iradj Moini escaped the Iranian revolution to pursue his jewellery ambitions. His visionary designs caught the attention of fashion designers like Oscar de la Renta – for whom he created runway jewellery for a decade – and Iris Apfel, a prolific collector. Striking colour combinations and emblems of the natural world are strongly featured in Moini’s work, and this beetle brooch is a quintessential example. The insect’s exoskeleton is brought to life with a combination of gems, including sugilite, labradorite, garnet and amethyst, with trims of gold-plated brass. Please note, a cord is not included.
