Venini Fantasmino Hand-Blown Murano Glass Portable Lamp

£520

If you feel a sense of déjà vu when looking at the Fantasmino lamp, it’s because it bears a close resemblance to the Fazzoletto vase from 1948. The rechargeable and portable LED piece is handmade in Murano using the Opalini technique. The process dates back to the 15th century and sees opacifying substances added to glass during kneading, leading to a block colour. The results are a wonderful fusion of old and new, highlighting Venini’s ability to honour the archives through a contemporary lens.

Meet the Maker:

Venini

Venini is one of the oldest Venetian glass masters, established in 1921 by Paolo Venini who yearned for something original. From new layered glass techniques, to reimagining the 16th-century mezza filigrana, the brand redefined glassblowing aesthetics; embracing the avant-garde, while nodding to past traditions. For our exclusive collaboration, we reworked Venini’s most-celebrated Fazzoletto vase, originally made in 1948.
