Pashmina, which has been produced in Kashmir for centuries, is prized for its softness, warmth and texture. The raw material is obtained from the undercoat of Changthangi goats, which roam a high-altitude region of the Himalayas. Me & K has mastered the fine art with a meticulous process that sees the yarn spun, woven and dyed by hand. This scarf is made on a traditional wooden handloom and takes approximately 14 days to finish.

Meet the Maker:

Me and K

Cousins Mujtaba Kadri and Rauf Shaw established Me & K in 2008 to highlight the ancient art of Kashmir shawl-making. Their shared love of pashmina has been woven into their family dynamic for as long as they can remember, as four generations before them spent their lives dedicated to buying, selling and making. Scarves and shawls are their speciality, made using quality cashmere from goats in the Changthang region of the Himalayas – the intense cold here causes a thick undercoat that can be harvested to produce cashmere of the finest grade. Traditional techniques enrich each craft tale, such as spinning, weaving and embroidering, which are passed down through generations and carried out entirely by hand.
