In a turn-of-the-century building in Bucharest, you’ll find Les Vacances d’Irina. French for ‘Irina’s Holidays’, the atelier – founded by Irina Morosanu and her partner, Matei Paun – came about after they spent an idyllic summer in Sifnos on the Aegean Sea. Morosanu’s love for design was ignited by her mother and aunt, who facilitated ample trips to second-hand stores, a moment that came full circle when she made a sailor collar inspired by a vintage naval jacket uncovered at a flea market. Working with deadstock fabrics from Romania, Paun’s birthplace, they dream up collections inspired by the carefree nature of life on faraway isles.
