With experience from Parsons School of Design, Peter Speliopoulos now applies his passion for craft to contemporary, hand-stained leather table accessories. His desire to present a balance between primitive and contemporary worlds is at the heart of everything he does, creating pieces that’ll provoke the senses and stir up conversations about the past, present and future. These hand-stained leather placemats are constructed in Umbria, Italy, and finished with a water-repellent coating for effortless cleaning. Due to the handmade nature of the leather, some variations and marks may occur.

Meet the Maker:

Peter Speliopoulos Projects

Artist and polymath Peter Speliopoulos has manifested his lifelong passion for colour, texture and craft through many forms, from fashion and opera costume design to handcrafted homeware. He developed a love for material and construction while growing up in Springfield, Massachusetts, leading him to study at Parsons School of Design. Following this, he worked for esteemed fashion houses such as Donna Karan New York, where he was named creative director. Now, he applies these skills to leather and suede table accessories that are intended to heighten the senses and present the balance between the contemporary and the primitive, all while honouring the way of life of the past, present and future.
