Tucked away in the foothills of the Italian Alps sits Alonpi, the cashmere cognoscenti with decades of experience under its belt. Helmed by design-lovers Alfredo Magliola and Gianpietro Tonel, this creative endeavour is guided by a shared appreciation of fine craft. In the ateliers dotted across Como and Biella, expert artisans fuse the traditional techniques of these two cities with innovative technical enhancements. All fabrics are produced by parent company Achille Pinto in Casnate con Bernate, where every detail – from embroidery to borders and fringing – is carried out by hand. Ordinarily, craft tales will follow the order of spinning, weaving and finishing, with each step opening the door to age-old arts such as screen-printing and fringe-knotting.
