In lively Marrakech, fashion photographer Randall Bachner and his life partner from the music and media space, Nicholas Minucciani, dreamt up Marrakshi Life, inspired by the city’s bustling energy and raw edge. One day, while wandering the Medina, they came across Mohamed, who went on to become their very first weaver. Ever since, their family of artisans has continued to expand, now standing at a much-larger 70 in a 7,000 square-foot workshop. With the expertise of local craftspeople, Bachner and Minucciani dream up their own fabrics, which are traditionally woven on wooden flatbed looms powered by hand. While their vision honours the darker side of Marrakech, the collections, albeit paradoxically, always bear a tantalising, infectious optimism.
