London-born jewellery designer Elizabeth Gage combined her knowledge of traditional craftsmanship with a love of history and art to conceptualise increasingly unconventional creations. Her pieces are known for their audacious use of colour and design elements that habitually evoke a long-gone past. This 1980s brooch is no exception: rendered in 18-karat gold and cobalt-blue guilloche enamel, it features astrological symbols – a nod to Elizabeth’s 1960s Zodiac collection that was inspired by a visit to Athens’ Benaki Museum.
